Keane lifts Galaxy past 'Caps

Apr 13, 2014 - 4:42 AM Carson, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Robbie Keane's second-half goal was the difference on Saturday as the Los Angeles Galaxy came away with a nervy 1-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC at the StubHub Center.

Both sides produced several scoring chances in the first half, with LA creating the best opportunity in the 38th minute as Baggio Husidic lofted a cross into the area for Landon Donovan, but Donovan's header went just wide of the far post as the sides went into the break scoreless.

The Galaxy found the only goal of the day with a moment of class two minutes into the second half when Stefan Ishizaki whipped a cross into the penalty area where an unmarked Keane tapped it home at the back post.

Vancouver continued to search for the equalizer as the game wore on, but the Galaxy's back line held firm to claim three points.

The result sees the Galaxy earn their second win of the season, while Vancouver suffers its second defeat of the campaign and remains on eight points from six games.
