Houston holds on to tie L.A.

Mar 22, 2015 - 4:39 AM Carson, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo traded early goals en route to a 1-1 draw at the StubHub Center on Saturday.

The Galaxy wasted little time in breaking the deadlock as Robbie Keane picked up the ball inside his own half in the third minute and went the distance. The move culminated with a shot that took a slight deflection off of Tyler Deric on its way into the back of the net.

Houston, however, clawed back into the match with an equalizer in the 11th minute. Nathan Sturgis did the honors, running onto a header from David Horst to fire the Dynamo level from close range.

Keane nearly netted a goal early in the second half when he settled a square pass from Stefan Ishizaki, but the Irish striker sent his effort wide of the post.

Los Angeles again came close to regaining the lead, this time in the 71st minute when Mika Vayrynen uncorked a dipping shot from distance, but Deric was equal to the task, parrying the attempt to safety.

It was a crucial save as it ultimately granted Houston a point, the club's fourth of the season.

Los Angeles remains unbeaten this term, improving to five points through three matches.
