Catchings leads Fever over Sun
Jul 1, 2015 - 3:00 AM Uncasville, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Tamika Catchings posted a game-best 26 points to go with 10 rebounds as Indiana downed Connecticut, 92-84, on Tuesday.Shenise Johnson had 13 points and Natalie Achonwa contributed 10 points and six boards for the Fever, who had dropped their previous two.
Kelsey Bone poured in 21 points and Alex Bentley scored 18 to go with six assists for the Sun, who saw their seven-game win streak snapped.
The game was effectively decided in the third quarter, when Indiana extended a five-point edge into a 74-55 advantage. The visitors captured their game-high 23-point lead on a Johnson free throw with 1:48 left in the period.
Connecticut managed to shrink its deficit to 85-82 on a Bentley triple with 1:05 to play, but Achonwa and Catchings followed by hitting four straight free throws for a seven-point margin the hosts could not overcome.
