Charles leads Liberty over Sky
Jul 1, 2015 - 2:12 AM Rosemont, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Tina Charles had 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the New York Liberty to an 89-81 win over the Chicago Sky on Tuesday night.Candice Wiggins added 15 points and Sugar Rodgers and Kiah Stokes scored 11 each for the Liberty, who have won two straight and three of their last four games.
Elena Delle Donne, who won her third consecutive Eastern Conference Player of the Week award to start the season, collected 26 points and 13 rebounds in Chicago's second straight loss.
Cappie Pondexter added 19 points and Courtney Vandersloot had 14 points and 10 assists for the Sky.
Charles had 13 points in the first quarter but the Liberty only led by two at the buzzer despite shooting better than 57 percent. They held the Sky under 17 percent shooting in the second to build a 48-36 advantage at halftime.
New York went up by as many as 14 points early in the third quarter and led by as much as 15 early in the fourth.
