Smith suspended one game

Apr 29, 2008 - 7:46 PM WILKES-BARRE, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Nathan Smith, the captain of the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, has been suspended for one game following an arrest on an indecent exposure charge.

Smith will miss the first game of the East Division final, which starts on Thursday against either Albany or Philadelphia. The suspension was handed down by Penguins coach Todd Richards.

According to the Times Leader in Scranton, the 26-year-old Smith was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly ran naked in view of a police officer.

Prior to Tuesday's practice, Smith issued an apology, calling the incident "a prank that went wrong."

Smith has played in 17 career NHL games, including 13 with the Pittsburgh Penguins this season.
