Mitchell, Cornish among CFL weekly winners

Nov 25, 2014 - 6:07 PM Toronto, ON ( - Calgary Stampeders teammates Bo Levi Mitchell and Jon Cornish were among those selected as the CFL's best for this past weekend's division finals.

Mitchell earned the offensive award after passing for 336 yards with four touchdowns in Calgary's 43-18 rout of Edmonton in the West Division final. In his first career playoff start, Mitchell also ran for a score.

Cornish was named the top Canadian for the sixth time this season with 174 yards from scrimmage and a pair of touchdowns in the big win over the Eskimos. He scored on a 78-yard pass play and also ran two yards for a touchdown.

Calgary linebacker Juwan Simpson picked up the defensive award. He notched seven tackles and a sack in the lopsided win.

Hamilton returner Brandon Banks received the special teams honor. He returned five punts for 226 yards, including touchdowns of 93 and 88 yards, in a 40-24 victory over Montreal in the East final.
