Diamondbacks release OF Francisco
Mar 15, 2015 - 5:08 PM Scottsdale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Diamondbacks announced they released veteran outfielder Ben Francisco on Sunday.Francisco, 33, signed a minor league contract with Arizona in December. In six spring training appearances, Francisco batted 1-for-9.
The seven-year big league veteran owns a .253 batting average and .323 on-base percentage with 50 home runs in 563 career games for the Indians, Phillies, Blue Jays, Astros, Rays and Yankees.
Francisco spent the 2014 season with Lancaster in the independent Atlantic League and batted .242.
