Fresh wave of Comm Games tickets on sale
Nov 20, 2017 - 7:41 AM More than 60,000 newly-issued tickets to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games were sold within hours on Monday.Organisers put on sale about 100,000 newly-available tickets to sought-after events and most were snapped up rapidly.
"In the first hour we saw 40,000 tickets purchased," Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Corporation chief executive Mark Peters told reporters.
Within two hours of the midday release, about 60,000 tickets had been sold with sales continuing into the night.
"All up, 300,000 (tickets) went back on sale and we say 15,000 of those are in the prime sports," Peters said.
The opening ceremony, netball, rugby sevens, diving and track cycling were among the tickets most in demand.
But some tickets remained for the men's 100m sprint final, Peters said.
