Heat's Burns to miss Renegades BBL clash
Dec 22, 2017 - 2:10 AM A groin injury has ruled in-form Joe Burns out of the Brisbane Heat's BBL clash with Melbourne Renegade. However, big-hitting teammate Chris Lynn remains in the frame for an unlikely return.
Burns paced the Heat with a 27-ball 50 in their 15-run victory over the Melbourne Stars on Wednesday and with Lynn on the sidelines was shaping as a key figure in the side's top six.
But a groin twinge in that innings kept him from fielding and the former Test opener has not travelled with the side to Melbourne.
Lynn has made the trip but remains unlikely to return from July shoulder surgery after a hamstring strain stopped his initial comeback attempt on Wednesday.
Marnus Labuschagne comes into the line-up in place of Burns, while paceman Cameron Gannon replaces Jack Prestwidge in the 13-man squad.
Heat coach Daniel Vettori hopes to have both Burns and Lynn available for the side's return to the Gabba next Wednesday.
