Orioles' Davis cleared to use Adderall
Dec 17, 2014 - 11:31 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis has been cleared by Major League Baseball to use Adderall for the upcoming season, his manager said.Buck Showalter said Tuesday that Davis told him he was given a theraputic-use exemption for the medication, according to the team's official website.
MLB suspended Davis in September for 25 games after he tested positive for an amphetamine. Davis said he took Adderall by mistake after legally using in the past.
MLB does not comment on individual player's theraputic-use exemptions.
The first baseman hit just .196 this past season with 26 homers and 72 RBI after leading the American League with 53 homers and 138 RBI in 2013 on the way to finishing third in the MVP voting.
