Gordon's 38 points lifts Bulls past Raptors

Oct 28, 2006 - 3:58 AM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Ben Gordon ended the preseason on an impressive note.

Gordon scored 19 of his 38 points in the first quarter as the Chicago Bulls posted a 108-97 triumph over the Toronto Raptors, who suffered their only preseason defeat.

Gordon made 12-of-20 shots, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. He also sank all 12 of his free throws.

Viktor Khryapa scored seven of his nine points during an 60-second span in the fourth quarter to help the Bulls build a 12-point lead. Khryapa was acquired in the offseason from Portland.

Luol Deng and Andres Nocioni scored 15 points apiece and Kirk Hinrich added 14 for the Bulls, who shot 49 percent (39-of-79) from the floor. Ben Wallace had 11 rebounds and two steals in limited playing time.

Morris Peterson scored 20 points and Anthony Parker contributed 13 for the Raptors (7-1), who visit New Jersey in their opener on Wednesday night.

Raptors rookie Andrea Bargnani, the top pick in June's draft, scored just three points.

Chicago visits defending champion Miami in a rematch from last season's first-round playoff series on Tuesday in its opener.
