Iguodala leads balanced attack as 76ers crush Clippers
Mar 4, 2008 - 6:39 AM By John Reger PA SportsTicker Contributing WriterLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Andre Iguodala poured in 18 points to lead five others in double figures as the Philadelphia 76ers breezed to a 106-80 triumph over the lowly Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.
It was the fourth win in five games and 10th out of the last 13 for the Sixers, who remain in seventh place in the Eastern Conference playoff standings.
"We definitely feel like we belong, but we want to strive to even better things," Sixers forward Reggie Evans said. "Instead of settling we want to move up, hope some teams lose and we continue to win."
Louis Williams had 16 points off the bench and Samuel Dalembert chipped in 12 and 12 rebounds for Philadelphia, which posted a five-point win at Phoenix on Sunday.
"We are learning to play on the road and that is what you are going to need to get into the playoffs," said 76ers guard Andre Miller, who had eight assists. "We are playing decent basketball at home, but two out of three wins on the road, that is good for us."
The 76ers created a 12-point lead with 1:52 left in the second quarter on Iguodala's 3-pointer. Philadelphia held a 54-42 edge at the break and never looked back.
"We're playing hard," Iguodala said. "The west is tough, they have some good wins. I think we've learned from previous games not to take anyone lightly."
Williams' buzzer-beating 3-pointer off the glass at the end of the third sparked an 11-2 surge that extended the Sixers lead to 20 points at the 9:55 mark.
Rookie Al Thornton had 20 points and 10 boards for the Clippers, who dropped their sixth consecutive game and failed to score over 80 points for the second consecutive game.
"We just made too many mistakes," Thornton said. "You can't make too many mistakes against a team like this that gets out into transition because that turns into easy points."
