Iverson, Nuggets cruise past Bucks

Oct 17, 2007 - 2:36 AM GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- When it was close, the Denver Nuggets looked to Allen Iverson.

Iverson scored 22 points - including 12 in the third quarter - as the Nuggets posted a 104-78 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

Fellow All-Star Carmelo Anthony scored 16 points and hauled in eight rebounds for Denver, which rebounded after its first preseason loss on Sunday. The Nuggets were edged, 109-106, by the Detroit Pistons in that contest.

Leading Milwaukee by six at halftime, Iverson spurred Denver by connecting on 4-of-7 shots from the floor in the third as the Nuggets outscored the Bucks, 33-15, in the period.

Overall, the former MVP shot 7-of-15 from the field for Denver, which held Milwaukee to 33 percent (27-of-83) shooting from the field.

Charlie Bell scored 17 points and Mo Williams added 16 for the Bucks, who have dropped two straight exhibition contests.

Yi Jianlian, Milwaukee's first overall pick, had nine points, and seven rebounds.
