Martin leads balanced attack as Kings top Jazz

Oct 19, 2007 - 3:55 AM ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- Kevin Martin scored 25 points and Brad Miller and Francisco Garcia each netted 13 as the Sacramento Kings routed the Utah Jazz, 105-91, in a preseason contest on Thursday night.

Kenny Thomas had seven points, six rebounds and five steals for the Kings, who shot 50 percent (36-of-72) from the field and boasted six double-figure scorers.

John Salmons, Ron Artest and Mike Bibby each scored 11 points, making up for a futile effort by top offseason acquisition Mikki Moore, who scored just three points on 1-of-5 shooting in 18 minutes.

While the Kings spread the scoring around, they did lean on their most reliable offensive player from last season - slender scoring machine Kevin Martin. The 24-year-old Martin broke out in 2006-07, averaging a career-high 20.2 points.

The 6-7, 185-pounder shot 9-of-14 from the field on Thursday, including 1-of-3 from the arc, and nailed all six of his free throws for the Kings, who played without veteran forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim and rookie center Spencer Hawes.

Both players are rehabilitating knee injuries.

All-Stars Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur each scored 15 points and Deron Williams added 12 and five assists for the Jazz.

Second-year swingman Ronnie Brewer collected 10 points and six assists and embattled forward Andrei Kirilenko had five and six rebounds for Utah, which committed 22 turnovers.
