Clippers down Bryant, Lakers

Oct 22, 2007 - 5:18 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- As long as Kobe Bryant is still with the Los Angeles Lakers, they will need more production from their superstar.

Bryant scored 10 points and made just one field goal Sunday night as the Lakers suffered a 112-96 loss to the rival Los Angeles Clippers in a preseason matchup at the Staples Center.

Bryant played 16 minutes and never got into rhythm. He made just 1-of-4 shots from the field and committed seven turnovers. The nine-time All-Star did make all eight of his free throw attempts.

Corey Maggette led the charge for the Clippers, scoring 22 points on 6-of-9 shooting in 24 minutes. Maggette's play help them jump out to a 59-53 lead at the half.

Al Thornton had 24 points and Paul Davis chipped in 15 points and dished out five assists for the Clippers, who shot 47 percent (40-of-86).

The Lakers, who shot just 41 percent (32-of-79) from the floor, were led by reserves Andrew Bynum and Jordan Farmar. Bynum collected 16 points and Farmar finished with 19 points and five assists.
