Wilcox leads SuperSonics past Suns

Oct 27, 2007 - 5:37 AM VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- Chris Wilcox scored 27 points to lead the Seattle SuperSonics to a 121-108 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

Seattle opens the regular season Wednesday at Denver while Phoenix visits the SuperSonics on Thursday to open its season.

Wilcox was 12-of-14 from the field and added nine rebounds and two blocks for Seattle, which played without rookie Kevin Durant, who is nursing a sprained left ankle.

Kurt Thomas added 19 points and Wally Szczerbiak scored 15 for the Sonics, who got 13 points from rookie Jeff Green before he sprained his left ankle in the third quarter. Green headed to the locker room but returned to finish the third quarter.

Phoenix point guard Steve Nash, a Canadian, made a return to his home province and scored 10 points and added 12 assists in three quarters.

Suns center Amare Stoudemire was playing in just his second preseason game since arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on October 2. Phoenix had to like what it saw from Stoudemire as he scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
