Durant, Horford headline Rookie Team

May 13, 2008 - 7:10 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Seattle SuperSonics forward Kevin Durant headlined the league's All-Rookie Team that was named on Tuesday.

Durant, who was named the Rookie of the Year on May 1, was joined by teammate Jeff Green, Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford, Los Angeles Clippers forward Al Thornton and Houston Rockets forward Luis Scola.

The 6-9 forward, Durant led all rookies in scoring at 20.3 points and averaged 4.4 rebounds per game this season.

The 19-year-old was one of the few bright spots for the Sonics, who finished 20-62 for the worst record in the franchise's 41-year history.

Durant played in 80 games - all starts - and led the Sonics in scoring 47 times, including a career-high 42 points against Golden State on April 16.

He received 28 first-team votes and one second-team, finishing second in the voting behind Horford.

The Hawks center averaged 10.1 points and 9.7 rebounds, leading all rookies with 25 double-doubles. Horford received 29 first-place votes after helping Atlanta reach the postseason for the first time since 1999.

Scola averaged 10.3 points and 6.4 rebounds for the Rockets, finishing third in the voting, while Thornton was fourth. The Clippers forward was second among rookies in scoring at 12.7 points per game.

Green averaged 10.5 points and 4.7 rebounds, finishing fifth in the voting just ahead of Toronto forward Jamario Moon. Green had a total of 43 points, while Moon had 38.

Moon was named to the second team along with Memphis Grizzlies guard Juan Carlos Navarro, Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young, Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey and Houston forward Carl Landry.
