Iowa's Christopher takes weekly honors

Apr 8, 2014 - 3:51 PM New York, NY (Sports Network) - owa Energy guard Patrick Christopher was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Monday, March 31- Saturday, April 5. The award is the first of Christopher's career. He joins teammate Othyus Jeffers as members of the Energy to be honored during the 2013-14 campaign.

Christopher (6-5, 209, California) led the Energy to a 2-1 week en route to the Central Division Championship, the team's fourth in its seven-year history. Iowa defeated the Maine Red Claws and West Division Champion Los Angeles D-Fenders and secured the third overall seed in the upcoming 2014 NBA D-League playoffs.

For the week, Christopher averaged 28.3 points on 65 percent shooting from the floor to go with 5.3 rebound and 2.0 assists. He scored a career-high 47 points in the team's 142-122 win over the Red Claws on April 4, before dropping 23 points and grabbing seven rebounds in a 148-128 win over Los Angeles the following night.

Christopher, who participated in the 2014 NBA D-League All-Star Three-Point Competition, shot 41 percent from behind the line last week, connecting on 5- of-12 from downtown. For the season, he is averaging 13.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Other top performers considered included Austin's Flip Murray, Iowa's Moses Ehambe, Los Angeles' Terrence Williams, Rio Grande Valley's Robert Covington, playing on assignment from the Houston Rockets, Santa Cruz's Mychel Thompson, Sioux Falls' Tre Kelley, Springfield's Adonis Thomas and Tulsa's Dominic McGuire.
