Pittsburg St. coach Iba to retire after season

Sep 17, 2009 - 4:44 PM PITTSBURG, Kan.(AP) -- Pittsburg State basketball coach Gene Iba says he will retire after the upcoming season.

Iba said Wednesday that he wants to spend more time with his family.

Iba, the nephew of legendary Oklahoma State coach Henry Iba, has a 252-154 record in 14 years at Pittsburg State and a 478-357 record in 29 years of college coaching.

Before Pittsburg State, Iba coached for seven seasons at Baylor, eight years at Houston Baptist and was Hall of Famer Don Haskins' assistant at Texas-El Paso.
