Rose takes 100th at BYU in 83-65 win over Hawaii

Nov 21, 2009 - 7:18 AM HONOLULU(AP) -- Coach Dave Rose won his 100th game at Brigham Young with Friday night's 83-65 victory over Hawaii.

Rose reached the milestone in his 134th game, the fastest any BYU coach has done so.

BYU junior guard Jimmer Fredette led all scorers with 20 points and had a game-high eight assists. Jonathan Tavernari added 17 points, including 3-for-7 from 3-point range. Tyler Haws and Jackson Emery pitched in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Cougars (3-0) held Hawaii's top two scorers entering the game, Dwain Williams and Roderick Flemings, largely in check.

Williams did not score on five shots. Flemings scored 12 points, but the bulk of those came late in the second half when the game was already decided.

Junior guard Hiram Thompson led the Rainbows (2-2) with 15 points.
