Saint Peter's drops Niagara 74-65 for series sweep

Jan 23, 2010 - 3:43 AM LEWISTON, N.Y.(AP) -- Nick Leon scored 19 points and Ryan Bacon had 15 points and tied his career high with 16 rebounds to lead Saint Peter's to a 74-65 win over Niagara on Friday night for the Peacocks' fourth straight win.

Saint Peter's (11-8, 6-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) swept the series for the first time since the 2005-06 season, also winning 90-86 in double overtime on Jan. 11.

This time, the Peacocks trailed 30-27 at halftime, then used a 17-4 run to lead 49-41 with 11:46 left. Niagara could get no closer than five the rest of the way.

The Peacocks outshot the Purple Eagles 43.3 percent (26-for-60) to 32.9 percent (23-for-70) and were 17-for-30 (56.7 percent) from long range. Leon hit four 3-pointers.

Niagara (11-10, 4-5), which has lost four of its last five, got a career-high 23 points from Demetrius Williamson and 15 from Bilal Benn. The duo had nine rebounds apiece.
