Mount St. Mary's knocks off Sacred Heart 64-52

Jan 29, 2010 - 2:52 AM EMMITSBURG, Md.(AP) -- Raven Barber scored 15 points to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 64-52 victory over Sacred Heart on Thursday night.

The Mountaineers (6-14, 3-6 Northeast Conference) used an 18-2 run in the second half to pull away and win for the first time in three games.

Sacred Heart (12-8, 5-4) led 42-39, but Mount St. Mary's quickly took control, scoring nine consecutive points for a 48-42 lead with 8:34 remaining.

The Mountaineers then went on their second 9-0 run, going ahead 57-44 on Barber's layup with 5:32 to play.

Shawn Atupem hit a layup to give Mount St. Mary's a 64-46 lead with 1:42 left.

Jean Cajou added 13 point for the Mountaineers, who shot 48.1 percent from the floor (25-for-52).

Corey Hassan, who leads the NEC in scoring, finished with 21 points and eight rebounds. Ryan Litke added 11 points for Sacred Heart, which shot 30 percent in the second half (9-for-30).
