Fairfield eases past St. Peter's 59-46

Feb 6, 2010 - 3:18 AM BRIDGEPORT, Conn.(AP) -- Derek Needham scored 20 points and Anthony Johnson recorded a double-double, leading Fairfield over St. Peter's 59-46 on Friday night.

Johnson finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Sean Crawford added 12 points for the Stags (16-7, 9-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Association), who swept the season series against the Peacocks. They also sank St. Peter's 61-48 on Dec. 6.

Four players, including Needham, hit a 3-pointer for Fairfield as the Stags finished 4-for-13 from long range (30.8 percent). The Peacocks were just 3-for-17 from beyond the arc (17.6 percent).

Fairfield's Sean Crawford hit a 3 to open the game, sparking a 16-3 run that was capped by Mike Evanovich's three-point play. The Stags led the entire way, cruising to a 34-27 halftime lead and holding St. Peter's to just 19 points in the second.

Ryan Bacon scored 14 points for the Peacocks (13-10, 8-5).
