Holy Cross fires coach after 1 season
Mar 31, 2010 - 12:23 PM WORCESTER, Mass.(AP) -- Holy Cross has fired coach Sean Kearney after one year during which the team set a school record for most losses in a single season.Athletic director Richard Regan Jr. said in statement that it was a "difficult decision" but also "an affirmation of how important basketball is at Holy Cross."
The Crusaders finished 9-22 overall and in seventh place in the Patriot League with a 5-9 conference mark.
Kearney was hired last July to replace Ralph Willard, who left after 10 years at his alma mater to join Rick Pitino's staff at Louisville.
It was the first head coaching job for Kearney, who had been an assistant at Notre Dame. He could not be reached for comment.
