Orlando Early resigns as ULM coach
Apr 15, 2010 - 3:43 PM MONROE, La.(AP) -- Louisiana-Monroe head men's basketball coach Orlando Early has resigned after five seasons with the Warhawks.Early says he's enjoyed his time at ULM and that he's accepted an assistant coaching position at South Carolina in order to be closer to family.
Athletic director Bobby Staub, who announced Early's departure on Thursday, says he appreciated Early's hard work and that he'll be missed. Staub says associate head coach Jimmy Voight was named interim head coach and that a search for Early's permanent replacement will begin now.
ULM had a 60-92 record under Early and went 33-55 in the Sun Belt Conference. In 2006-07, Early led ULM to the Sun Belt West Division title and was named Sun Belt coach of the year.
