Michigan State says Allen won't return next season
Aug 4, 2010 - 3:01 AM EAST LANSING, Mich.(AP) -- Michigan State says guard Chris Allen won't return to the basketball team for the 2010-11 season.Coach Tom Izzo says Allen will miss what would have been his senior season. Allen started 27 games and averaged 8 points a game last season for the Spartans, who made it the NCAA tournament's Final Four.
Izzo said in a statement Tuesday it's been no secret that Allen was in a tenuous position with the program since last spring. Izzo says Allen made progress but failed to meet all his obligations to the program.
Allen says in a statement released by Michigan State that he's leaving on good terms with teammates and coaches.
Izzo suspended Allen for a Big Ten tournament game last season for not meeting responsibilities to his teammates.
No one has shouted yet.
