Kansas suspends Taylor and Johnson for two games

Oct 31, 2011 - 12:28 AM Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Kansas has suspended guards Tyshawn Taylor and Elijah Johnson two exhibition games for violating team rules in the offseason, Jayhawks head coach Bill Self announced Sunday.

Self did not state what rule the players violated, just only that it was one "that I told them".

"They have been aware of this for several months and also are disappointed, but have had very positive attitudes about it." Self said.

Taylor and Johnson will miss Kansas' exhibition games against Pittsburgh State on Tuesday, November 1 and Fort Hays State on Tuesday, November 8, but will be eligible to play in the Jayhawks season opener against Towson on Friday, November 11.

Taylor is returning for his senior year and averaged 9.4 points, 4.6 assists and 1.9 rebounds a game last season.

Johnson, a junior, is the Jayhawks' best returning three-point shooter, converting on 22-of-55 chances last year while averaging 3.4 points a game.
