Dolphins and Gators mix it up in Gainesville

Nov 25, 2011 - 4:10 PM Gainesville, FL (Sports Network) - The 10th-ranked Florida Gators are the obvious favorite tonight in a non-conference matchup with the Jacksonville Dolphins.

Jacksonville has won its last two games since suffering back-to-back losses to open the season. The most recent contest for the Dolphins took place on Monday and resulted in a 65-55 triumph over Bethune-Cookman.

Like the Dolphins, the Gators enter this tilt riding the momentum of two straight wins. Billy Donovan's team knocked off Wright State by a 78-65 final on Monday to move to 3-1 overall. The lone defeat to date came on the road against Ohio State by only seven points.

Florida holds a 24-9 series lead over Jacksonville, but the Dolphins did snap a nine-game losing skid to the Gators last season.

Through four outings, Jacksonville is scoring 68.0 ppg on 47.9 percent shooting from the field, and the club is limiting opponents to 66.0 ppg on 40.2 percent field goal efficiency. Aloys Cabell has played in three of the team's four outings thus far and is netting 13.7 ppg. Glenn Powell checks in with 12.3 ppg, while Delwan Graham is posting 12.0 ppg. Both Russell Powell and Keith McDougald round out a group of five double-digit scorers with five points. In the romp over Bethune-Cookman, Powell poured in 20 points while Russell Powell tallied 12 points and seven assists.

Florida, like Jacksonville, has five players scoring in double figures through four outings. Kenny Boynton leads the balanced attack for the Gators with 19.0 ppg on 54.2 percent shooting from the field, and freshman sensation Bradley Beal checks in with 16.3 ppg. Mike Rosario provides 12.5 ppg off the bench for UF, which is getting 10.0 ppg apiece from Erving Walker and Erik Murphy. The Gators are generating 85.5 ppg while surrendering 65.0 ppg to opponents. In the victory over Wright State, both Boynton and Beal scored 22 points. Florida finished the tilt with a 20-12 edge in points from the foul line and a 40-26 rebounding advantage, keys to the victory.
