Miami-Ohio guard Moore suspended 9 games
Nov 7, 2013 - 1:59 AM Oxford, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Miami-Ohio guard Willie Moore has been suspended for the first nine games of the season for violating NCAA rules. The university said Wednesday the violation occurred before Moore enrolled at the school.
Moore played in 26 games for Oregon last season before transferring over the summer.
"It's a tough situation, and we accept the decisions that the NCAA made on this," said RedHawks coach John Cooper. "Willie has made a positive impact on our program and has been an upstanding young man since arriving on our campus.
"It's been a tough situation for him with the transfer process and some family matters. He is a part of our family and we treat him as such. No team is made up of one player and we will work hard to step up to the expectations and play as a team. Willie will continue to practice with us, and we look forward to his return to game competition once he is permitted to compete."
Oregon sophomores Dominic Artis and Ben Carter were suspended Tuesday for selling team-issued apparel and didn't make the trip with the No. 19 Ducks to South Korea for their scheduled season-opener Friday against Georgetown.
The length of their suspensions hadn't been determined. Oregon self-reported the violations to the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference, the school said.
No one has shouted yet.
