Lamar axes Pat Knight
Feb 16, 2014 - 10:42 PM Beaumont, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Lamar University announced on Sunday that Pat Knight will no longer serve as head men's basketball coach.Knight struggled as bench boss, going just 29-62 in less than three seasons at the helm, including a dismal 3-22 record this season.
Tic Price has been tabbed to serve as interim head coach for the rest of the season.
It's a disappointing end at the program for Knight, who erased the memory of a subpar tenure with Texas Tech by leading the school to a 23-12 record and NCAA Tournament play-in berth in 2011-12. However, the Cardinals sagged to a 6-50 mark since then.
No one has shouted yet.
