Montana tabs DeCuire to replace Tinkle

May 31, 2014 - 10:42 PM Missoula, MT (SportsNetwork.com) - Montana named Travis DeCuire its new head men's basketball coach on Saturday.

DeCuire replaces Wayne Tinkle, who was named last week as the new head coach at Oregon State after eight seasons as Montana's coach.

DeCuire spent the past six seasons on the California coaching staff, the last two as Cal's associate head coach, and was an assistant at Old Dominion for five years before that.

He set the Grizzlies career and single-season assists record as a player at Montana from 1992-94.

DeCuire will be formally introduced at a press conference Monday. His hiring is pending approval of Montana's Board of Regents.

Tinkle, a two-time Big Sky Coach of the Year, had a winning record in seven of his eight seasons with Montana.
