College of Charleston fires Wojcik
Aug 5, 2014 - 10:18 PM Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - The College of Charleston announced Tuesday that head men's basketball coach Doug Wojcik would not be returning to his position.Athletics Director Joe Hull is taking over the men's basketball program, according to a letter sent out by College of Charleston president Glenn McConnell.
The move comes more than a month after the school said it was investigating Wojcik for verbally assaulting players and staff members.
"I am writing today to let you know I have made the decision to terminate head men's basketball coach Doug Wojcik's employment at the College of Charleston for just cause, pursuant to the terms of his contract, effective immediately," McConnell said in the letter.
McConnell said the school would have no further comments about Wojcik's dismissal.
Wojcik went 38-29 during his two seasons at the College of Charleston.
Prior to his stint with the Cougars, Wojcik spent seven seasons as the head coach at Tulsa, where he compiled a program-record 140 wins.
