George Mason senior Patrick Holloway suspended for 6 games
Nov 10, 2015 - 11:30 PM FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) George Mason senior guard Patrick Holloway has been suspended for the team's first six games because of academic issues.The school announced the punishment Tuesday.
George Mason opens the season Friday at home against Colgate, then plays its next five games on the road.
New basketball coach Dave Paulsen says in a statement that players are expected to have ''an overall commitment to academics, attend all classes and follow team policies'' and that Holloway ''has not met those responsibilities.''
Paulsen adds: ''I cannot in good conscience allow Patrick to miss more class time. He needs to prove that he can manage his responsibility as a student-athlete.''
Holloway was second on the team last season in scoring average at 10.9 points and led George Mason with 40 3-pointers made.
