Florida A&M holds off Thomas (Ga.) 70-68 behind Bernard

Nov 19, 2015 - 5:25 AM TALLAHASEE, Fla. (AP) Malcolm Bernard scored 29 points shooting 9 of 15 from the floor and Florida A&M held off a late push from Thomas University (Ga.) for a 70-68 win Wednesday night.

Craig Bowman added 13 points and Francois Lewis 12 for Florida A&M (2-1). Lewis added eight rebounds.

Bernard, who started his collegiate career at Charleston Southern, was 10 of 14 from the free-throw line and had seven boards. Jordan Jackson had 10 rebounds for the Rattlers.

The NAIA Night Hawks were led by Adonai Rogers, who scored 18 points and had eight boards. Javoris Cooks added 13 points.

FAMU was 25 for 37 from the free-throw line and missed eight in the second half, allowing the Night Hawks to stay within reach.

The Rattlers shot 35.7 percent from the field in the first half and 43.5 in the second.
