Murray free throws allow Presbyterian to top Piedmont, 69-65

(AP) DeSean Murray scored 27 points, grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds and preserved Presbyterian's 69-65 win over Division III Piedmont by knocking down four free throws in the final 10 seconds Saturday.Piedmont scored three straight field goals, including a layup by Chris Meeks with :13 left to cut the Presbyterian lead to two, 65-63. Murray drew a foul from Chase England and hit both free throws to make it 67-63 with :10 left. Murray then drew a foul on Meeks and tacked on his final free throws with :03 left.
Murray was 9 of 16 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line, but his teammates struggled on offense. The Blue Hose (5-6) collectively shot 22 of 68 from the field (32.4 percent), including 4 of 19 from beyond the arc.
Trae Gaines finished with 20 points for the Lions. England and Meeks added 15 and 11 points, respectively.
