Top-seeded Wagner tops Robert Morris 59-50 in NEC tourney

Mar 3, 2016 - 3:25 AM NEW YORK (AP) Mike Aaman scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had a career-best five blocks and top-seeded Wagner beat No. 8 seed Robert Morris 59-50 on Wednesday night in the Northeast Conference tournament.

Wagner started the second half on a 10-1 run for a 34-20 lead after making 4 of 6 field goals. Robert Morris missed its first five shots of the half.

Robert Morris erased a 14-point deficit to tie it at 42-all with 5:50 left but Wagner went on a 10-2 run to pull away.

Michael Carey added nine points and 14 rebounds for Wagner (21-9), which hosts No. 6 seed LIU Brooklyn (16-14) in the semifinals on Saturday. Corey Henson scored 10.

Wagner made its first appearance as a No. 1 seed in the NEC tournament since the 2002-03 season, which ended in a first-ever title.

Isaiah Still scored 13 points for Robert Morris (10-22) and Kavon Stewart added 11 with six assists.
