Jacksonville State's James Green out as basketball coach
Mar 17, 2016 - 12:52 AM JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) James Green won't return as Jacksonville State's basketball coach next season.Jacksonville State said in a news release on Tuesday that both sides ''mutually agreed'' to end Green's eight-year tenure.
The former Southern Miss and Mississippi Valley State head coach went 89-153 and only made the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament twice. Green also led Jacksonville State to its second best Division I season at 17-11 in 2012-13 but the program was ineligible for postseason play because of low APR scores from before his arrival.
Athletic director Greg Seitz said the program is ''in much better shape'' than it was before Green's hiring.
Seitz said assistant coach Reggie Sharp will serve as interim head coach during the search for Green's replacement.
