Canisius coach Baron retires after 29-year career
May 20, 2016 - 4:29 PM BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Canisius College coach Jim Baron is retiring after a 29-year career.The university announced Baron's retirement on Friday.
Baron has 462 career wins between four schools, spending the last four at Canisius and bringing stability to what had been a losing program. He spent 11 seasons at Rhode Island and nine at St. Bonaventure before that, winning Atlantic-10 coach of the year four times. He made the NCAA Tournament twice.
Baron has two sons who play hoops professionally outside the United States.
