No. 1 Villanova loses F Samuels to broken hand

Dec 29, 2017 - 9:02 PM Villanova forward Jermaine Samuels has a broken bone in his left hand and will miss at least six weeks, according to coach Jay Wright.

The school announced Samuels' injury on Friday, two days after he scored a season-best 11 points in a victory over DePaul.

"We're all very disappointed for Jermaine," Wright said in a statement. "He has impressed our staff and his teammates with his intelligence, work ethic, and skills. It's taken him some time to adapt to our system but he's made great progress in the last few weeks, as we saw at DePaul.

"We know he'll work hard in his rehab to be ready for his return to the court."

The top-ranked Wildcats face Butler on Saturday.
