Charles leads No. 2 UConn past Old Dominion

Nov 24, 2007 - 4:27 AM ST THOMAS, Virgin Islands (Ticker) -- Tina Charles scored a game-high 15 points, leading four players in double figures Friday as No. 2 Connecticut had little problems with Old Dominion, posting an 86-43 victory in the Paradise Jam.

Renee Montgomery scored 12 points while Kalana Greene and Maya Moore each had 10 points for the Huskies (4-0), who will play Duke in Saturday's championship game.

UConn shot 64.9 percent from the field (37-for-57).

Charles (two blocks) and Brittany Hunter (eight points) each had seven rebounds for the Huskies, who led at halftime, 37-20. Moore had a team-high six assists.

T.J. Jordan was the only player for the Lady Monarchs in double figures with 13 points.

Trailing, 14-13, with 10:52 to play, Connecticut scored nine unanswered points. The Huskies ended the half on a 15-1 run that included four baskets by Charles from close range.

UConn held Old Dominion to 29 percent shooting, including 3-for-18 from behind the arc.
