Strickland scores 20 as Maryland downs Boston College
Feb 15, 2008 - 2:51 AM COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- Freshman Marah Strickland scored a career-high 20 points and Ashleigh Newman added 15 to lead No. 5 Maryland to a 78-51 victory over Boston College on Thursday in an Atlantic Coast Conference battle.Kristi Toliver added 12 points for the Terrapins (26-2, 10-1 ACC), who forced 20 turnovers and connected on 11-of-22 attempts from the arc en route to their fourth straight victory.
Strickland scored 14 points in the first as Maryland jumped out to a 45-28 lead at the break. The 6-0 guard finished 6-of-8 from the floor, including 5-of-5 from the arc.
Stephanie Murphy and Carolyn Swords scored 10 points apiece for Boston College (17-8, 5-5), which shot 42 percent (22-of-52) from the floor and has now lost three straight games.
