Lavender, Ohio State crush Youngstown State

Dec 20, 2007 - 2:50 AM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Jantel Lavender scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead 18th-ranked Ohio State to an 84-50 victory over Youngstown State on Wednesday.

Marscilla Packer scored 12 points and Ashlee Trebilcock and Star Allen added 11 points apiece for the Buckeyes, who shot 56 percent from the floor in the contest.

Ohio State (8-2) jumped out to a 37-25 lead at the half and extended the advantage after the break, outscoring the Penguins, 47-25. The Buckeyes' defensive presence held Youngstown State (4-6) to just 33 percent shooting, including a mere 29 percent effort in the second half.

Jessica Schloemp scored 11 points for the Penguins, who were outrebounded, 40-31, and turned the ball over 21 times.
