Parker, Tennessee cruise into regional semifinals
Mar 26, 2008 - 3:24 AM WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- Candace Parker had 24 points and eight rebounds and Alexis Hornbuckle added 14, eight and eight steals as top-seeded Tennessee cruised past ninth-seeded Purdue, 78-52, in the second round of the Oklahoma City Regional on Tuesday.The Volunteers (32-2) will play either Oklahoma or Notre Dame in the next round on Sunday.
Tennessee jumped to a 24-6 lead with 9:36 left in the first half and led by as many as 27 before taking a 40-20 advantage into the break.
Purdue (19-15) never got any closer during the second half. Overall, it committed 24 turnovers and shot just 37 percent (19-of-51) from the field.
Keshia Mosley scored 14 points off the bench to pace the Boilermakers.
