Raven leads No. 17 Texas past Central Michigan
Dec 28, 2009 - 11:24 PM CORAL GABLES, Fla.(AP) -- Brittainey Raven had a season-high 26 points to help No. 17 Texas beat Central Michigan 94-83 on Monday in the opening round of the Miami Wyndham Holiday Tournament.Raven also had 10 rebounds and Ashley Gayle finished with 11 points and a career-high 13 boards for Texas (8-3), which outrebounded the Chippewas 50-34. Kathleen Nash scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half and Erika Arriaran finished with 15 points.
The Longhorns will face Miami or Quinnipiac in Tuesday's tournament final.
Jalisa Olive scored 20 of her 22 points in the second half for Central Michigan (3-8), which trailed 52-37 at halftime. Britni Houghton scored 12 points, and Kaihla Szunko and Stefanie Mauk had 11 apiece.
Down 20 early in the second half, Central Michigan closed to 72-68 with 7:44 to play. But the Longhorns closed the game with a 22-15 surge.
