Vandy's Bowe to miss rest of season
Feb 28, 2014 - 12:41 PM Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Vanderbilt sophomore Heather Bowe will miss the remainder of the season because of a violation of academic policy.Bowe will not be enrolled at school for the remainder of the spring semester and will return to classes in the summer.
"Although Heather's current situation does not detract from the positive impact that she has had on our program and the university, she must face the consequences of her actions," said Vanderbilt coach Melanie Balcomb. "This has and will continue to be a significant learning experience for Heather and the team. We look forward to her return."
The nature of the violation was not disclosed.
"I take full responsibility for my mistake," said Bowe. "I respect Vanderbilt University and look forward to returning as soon as possible."
Bowe had started 21 of the 27 games she played this season and was averaging 5.1 points with 4.3 rebounds.
