Marquette's Mitchell won't return as women's hoops coach
Apr 10, 2014 - 3:45 AM Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Marquette University announced Wednesday that head women's basketball coach Terri Mitchell will not return for the 2014-15 season.Mitchell spent the last 23 years with Marquette's women's basketball program, including the last 18 as head coach. She guided the Golden Eagles to an overall record of 348-215 with 15 postseason appearances.
"Terri has been a valued member of the Marquette family for the past 23 years, including 18 years as head coach of our women's basketball team," Marquette interim president Robert A. Wild said. "Throughout her tenure, Terri embodied our Jesuit, Catholic values with her commitment to service and her emphasis on developing young women of character both on and off the court. We wish Terri all the best and we know she'll continue to be successful far into the future."
The Golden Eagles went 22-11 under Mitchell last season, culminating in a 72-69 loss at Indiana in the second round of the WNIT.
Marquette will immediately begin a national search for a new head coach.
