Gonzaga names Fortier women's hoops coach

Apr 15, 2014 - 4:47 AM Spokane, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Gonzaga University has announced the hiring of Lisa Fortier as its new women's basketball coach.

Fortier, who has spent nine years at the school working in various capacities and the past seven seasons as an assistant, is the seventh Gonzaga coach since 1980. She will replace former head coach Kelly Graves, who took the same position at the University of Oregon.

"Lisa has been a valued member of this staff for nine years and has been and integral part of our success," said Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth. "She is a tireless recruiter who will continue the tradition of bringing tremendous student-athletes to Gonzaga."

In her seven seasons as an assistant, the Bulldogs have compiled an overall record of 196-43, with 98-8 mark in the West Coast Conference.
