Cheryl Miller named head coach at Langston

May 1, 2014 - 5:02 PM Langston, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller has been named head women's basketball coach at Langston University.

Miller, 50, was a colligate star at Southern California, helping the school win the national title in 1983 and 1984. She was named NCAA Tournament MVP in 1983 and was the Naismith Player of the Year three straight years beginning in 1984. Miller led the U.S. women to gold in the 1984 Olympics and was enshrined into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995.

Her head coaching experience includes stints with USC, where she went 42-14 from 1993-95, and in the WNBA with the Phoenix Mercury from 1997-2000.

She has served as an NBA sideline reporter with TNT for 17 years.

Miller's connection to Langston is athletic director Mike Garrett, who hired Miller at USC when he was AD at the school.
