ACL injury ends season for Oregon star Jillian Alleyne
Feb 27, 2016 - 3:43 AM EUGENE, Ore. (AP) Jillian Alleyne, who just moved into second place in NCAA history with her 92nd career-double-double, had her senior season cut short after suffering a torn ACL in practice on Tuesday, the school announced Friday.''It is tough to see such a good person have to deal with such a difficult injury,'' Oregon coach Kelly Graves said in the release. ''Jillian has had one of the most remarkable careers in Pac-12 history and I'm sad to see it cut short. With her strong faith and work ethic, however, I know she will recover and go on to a long and successful professional career.''
Alleyne had 23 points and 18 rebounds last Sunday when Oregon beat USC 69-60 to reach 20 wins for the first time since 2004-05.
The Ducks played at California on Friday night and end their regular season at Stanford on Sunday.
The Fontana, California native never missed a game in her career prior to the injury, and in 120 games scored 2,151 points, second in school history, and grabbed 1,712 rebounds, third in NCAA history. She has the Oregon and Pac-12 single-game, single-season and career rebounding records.
Alleyne is the 10th player in NCAA history with at least 2,000 points and 1,500 rebounds. She was the media pick for the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, was an Associated Press honorable mention All-American as a sophomore and an AP third-team selection last year.
