Duke: Human resources reviewing women's basketball program
Apr 12, 2016 - 10:22 PM DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Duke says its human resources department is reviewing the women's basketball program. Two players left the team after this season, and one left in the middle of last season.The school issued a statement Tuesday saying coach Joanne P. McCallie is ''aware of the evaluation and eager to assist.''
Leading scorer and rebounder Azura Stevens says she is transferring and freshman guard Angela Salvadores of Spain is turning pro. Guard Sierra Calhoun left midway through last season, transferring to Ohio State.
School spokesman Jon Jackson declined comment when asked why Duke is reviewing the program. McCallie did not return a text message seeking comment.
Duke finished 20-12, fell out of the Top 25 for the first time since 1999 and missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1994.
